Bienvenue sur le blog de Stew Wonderfull. Photographe depuis 7 ans je suis portraitiste, au départ, mais tous les arts visuels sont mes domaines de prédilection. Passionnée, ambitieuse et travailleuse, j'ai roulé ma bosse dans le domaine de la photo depuis toutes ces années, avec ma fille sous le bras. Qui connait Stew Wonderfull connait sa fille, mademoiselle K. Le monde de la photographie est un peu misogyne, ne laissant que peu de place aux femmes, un peu étroit d'esprit également quand il s'agit de la mise en valeur de la beauté Afro-Caraïbéenne. Je suis maman, depuis 9 ans déjà d'une magnifique petite fille métisse. Je suis algérienne, kabyle, son papa est lui même un mélange de la Côte d'Ivoire et des antilles, on appelle ça un métissage "afro-descendant", et la peine qu'elle ressent parfois dans les moqueries de ses camarades quand à sa couleur de peau caramel, ou sa texture de cheveux "nappy" lui font naître, à son jeune âge, de terribles complexes. Le monde de la photo m'a souvent fermé ses portes, trop de métissage dans mes album, de culture "afro", pas assez de mannequins blanches et scandinaves, blondes et maigres... bref, après une mûre réflexion, j'ai décidé de mener le combat à contre sens de ce qui se fait. La beauté Afro-Caraïbéenne est devenue mon cheval de bataille, la mise en valeur de cette culture pour lutter contre des préjugés qui vont jusqu'à empêcher certains et certaines d'entre nous d'évoluer spirituellement et professionnelement dans une société formatée par des critères de beauté standardisés. Comment ne pas être touché par toutes ces femmes compléxées qui se comparent à des modèles de magazines qui ne leur ressemblent pas parce que blanchies, photoshopées et j'en passe. Je suis pour la défense de la beauté naturelle, et décompléxée de l'afro-descendance.
C'est pour ça que j'ai créé l'Open Afro-Caribbean Beauty Tour. Un tour de France pour commencer, un tour d'Europe, un tour d'Afrique, puis un tour du Monde pour prendre en photo les plus belles beautés, hommes, femmes, enfants de l'afro-descendance. Portrait naturel, mode urbaine ou traditionnelle, qu'importe, des portraits vrai et nature, peu retouchés pour valoriser cette beauté si peu mise en avant et parfois même mise à mal. Open, parce que la démarche est gratuite, ouvert à toutes et à tous...
C'est un combat bien plus profond que l'acceptation d'une couleur ou d'une texture de cheveux, la réflexion qui en découle pose même des questions d'ordre sociologique. Pourquoi tant de noirs américains en prison? Pourquoi tant de rascisme encore au 21 ème siècle? Pourquoi encore le franc CFA? Et j'en passe... Nous avons tous un don, le mien c'est la photographie, ne me demandez pas pourquoi et comment, on ne choisi pas, mais tel un super héros que faire avec son super pouvoir, j'ai choisi ce chemin là.
Ceci n'est qu'une introduction à ce projet qui prend forme de jour en jour, merci à tous ceux qui croient en moi et je vous donne RDV bientôt pour des clichés surprenants de beauté. The world of photography is a bit misogynist, leaving little room for women, a little narrow-minded also when it comes to the enhancement of beauty Afro-Caribbean. I am a mom, since 9 years already of a beautiful little girl Métis. I am Algerian, Kabyle, his dad is a mixture of the Ivory Coast and the Caribbean, it is called an "afro descendant" blend, and the pain that it sometimes feels in the mockery of his comrades about Its color of caramel skin, or its texture of "nappy" hair give rise to it, at its young age, terrible complexes. The world of photography has often closed me doors, too much cross-breeding in my album, culture "afro", not enough white and Scandinavian models, blond and thin ... in short, after careful reflection, I Decided to fight the fight against what is being done. Afro-Caribbean beauty has become my battlehorse, highlighting this culture to fight against prejudices that even prevent certain and some of us from evolving spiritually and professionally in a society formatted by criteria standardized beauty products. How not to be touched by all these complicated women who compare themselves to patterns of magazines that do not resemble them because bleached, photoshoped and so on. I am for the defense of the natural beauty, and not complexed of the afro-descent.
*That's why I created the Open Afro-Caribbean Beauty Tour. A tour of France to start, a tour of Europe, a tour of Africa, then a round the world to take pictures of the most beautiful beauties, men, women, children of the afro-descent. Natural portrait, urban or traditional fashion, what matters, portraits true and nature, little retouched to enhance this beauty so little put forward and sometimes even put to bad. Open, because the approach is free, open to all ...
*It is a much deeper struggle than the acceptance of a color or texture of hair, the reflection that results from it poses even sociological questions. Why so many black Americans in prison? Why so much Rascism in the 21st century? Why still the CFA franc? And of course ... We all have a gift, mine is photography, do not ask me why and how, we do not choose, but such a super hero what to do with his super power, I chosen this way there.
